Position Summary

The Vice President of Revenue is a senior executive accountable for the full revenue lifecycle—from market strategy and pipeline development through deal closure and client retention. You will own the commercial P&L, lead a national sales and marketing organization, and partner closely with operations, estimating, and executive leadership to drive sustainable, profitable growth.

This role demands a leader who combines deep technical fluency in OSP, ISP, and OT infrastructure with the strategic acumen to penetrate new markets, forge lasting client relationships, and build a world-class go-to-market organization.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Strategy & Growth

Develop and execute a comprehensive national revenue strategy aligned with company growth objectives, margin targets, and market opportunities across federal and commercial sectors.
Set, own, and consistently achieve annual revenue and bookings targets; report performance against KPIs to the CEO, SVP, and VP of Finance.
Identify, prioritize, and enter new geographic markets and vertical segments (utility, data center, industrial, manufacturing, MDU, higher education, healthcare).
Lead competitive intelligence efforts and translate market insights into differentiated go-to-market positioning.

Sales Leadership & Team Development

Over time, recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing national sales team; build a culture of accountability, urgency, and winning.
Define territory strategies, account segmentation, and quota structures to maximize team productivity and market coverage.
Implement a rigorous sales cadence including pipeline reviews, forecasting, and performance coaching.
Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) on compensation plans that attract top talent and align incentives to business outcomes.
Serve as a player-coach—personally leading pursuit of strategic accounts while developing the team’s capabilities.

Client & Sector Engagement

Cultivate and expand executive-level relationships with federal agencies, prime contractors, and commercial enterprise clients across all target verticals.
Oversee the management of strategic accounts to drive retention, expansion, and referral revenue.
Represent the company at industry conferences, trade associations, and client events to enhance brand presence and business development opportunities.
Partner with federal business development teams to pursue contracts, IDIQs, and task orders through GSA Schedules, and agency-specific vehicles.

Proposal & Pursuit Management

Lead the bid/no-bid decision process and ensure disciplined pursuit of opportunities that align with capability, margin, and strategic fit.
Collaborate with estimating and operations to develop compelling, competitive proposals and pricing strategies.
Drive win-rate improvement through structured capture planning, lessons learned and go/no-go discipline.
Oversee contract negotiations and deal structuring for major engagements, ensuring favorable terms and risk allocation.

Cross-Functional & Executive Leadership

Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership team; contribute to company-wide strategic planning and organizational decisions.
Collaborate with operations leadership to ensure seamless handoffs from sale to delivery and maintain high client satisfaction.
Partner with marketing on brand positioning, demand generation campaigns, and thought leadership content.
Provide accurate revenue forecasts and pipeline reporting to support workforce planning, capital allocation, and financial modeling.

Qualifications

Required Experience

15+ years of progressive sales and business development experience in the infrastructure, telecommunications, construction, or technology services industries.
Minimum 5 years in a senior revenue leadership role (VP or Director level) with full P&L accountability and team management responsibility.
Demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets in a multi-vertical, multi-geography environment.
Deep expertise in OSP, ISP, and/or OT solutions—including fiber networks, structured cabling, SCADA, industrial automation, or related disciplines.
Established relationships and proven success selling into federal agencies (DoD, DHS, VA, civilian agencies) and/or commercial enterprise accounts.
Experience building and scaling sales organizations from early growth stages; proven ability to attract, develop, and retain top sales talent.
Strong command of the full sales cycle: prospecting, capture planning, proposal development, negotiation, and close.

Preferred Experience

Experience across multiple target verticals including utility, data center, industrial/manufacturing, MDU, higher education, and/or healthcare.
Familiarity with federal procurement vehicles (GSA MAS, GWACs, IDIQs, BPAs) and compliance requirements (FAR/DFARS, Buy American, prevailing wage).
Background in construction services, engineering, or systems integration environments with an understanding of project-based revenue models.
Existing executive-level network within EPC firms, general contractors, program managers, or federal prime contractors.
Experience in a private equity-backed growth company or post-merger integration environment.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required.
MBA or advanced degree preferred; equivalent executive experience considered.

The VP of Revenue will be evaluated against the following outcomes:

Annual revenue and new bookings targets met or exceeded.
Gross margin improvement year-over-year through disciplined pursuit and pricing.
Sales pipeline growth: velocity, conversion rates, and average deal size.
Vertical and geographic diversification of the revenue base.
Sales team retention, quota attainment, and development metrics.
Federal contract wins and expansion of government revenue portfolio.
Client satisfaction and account expansion (NPS, retention rate, share of wallet).
